PIAFCTM 2.2 - Tri-Mode Traffic-Analysis for Windows

Unlike an ordinary protocol analyzer, NetworkActiv PIAFCTM instantly upon startup provides you with three different modes of network traffic analysis:
 File Mode: You can have PIAFCTM capture for you all the Web page based (HTTP) files contained in these packets. This includes HTML files, GIFs, JPGs, and other files contained in the Web pages that you visit. The capturing is done in real-time while you surf the Web with your browser. All you need to do is fire up PIAFCTM, choose File Mode, press Start and begin surfing the Web. The files are automatically saved to a user-specified folder as you surf.
Packet Mode: View detailed information about individual network data packets that travel in and out of your computer's network interface, which includes all the information that your computer sends to and receives from the Internet, and since PIAFCTM alerts you by sound when new data packets are captured you don't need to worry about missing anything new. With Packet Mode you can also save the captured data packets to a text file for later analysis, or even to share with others, for you can load the saved files back into PIAFCTM for further viewing/processing.

Statistical Mode: With PIAFCTM's Statistical Mode, you can see what IP addresses, IP address pairs, and what ports are being used to send and receive network data on your computer. It lists the information in tables that show you real-item information about each entity, such as transferred data amount and number of data packets sent and received. You can also save this information to a text file for later reference, or for sharing the statistics with others.

PIAFCTM's Three modes in more detail
|

|
|
Mode 1 (HTTP File Capture)
With this mode, you can capture images, web-pages, web-page initiated HTTP downloads, and more. This is done by the automated capturing and analyzing of HTTP (Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol) specific packets. When PIAFCTM sees an HTTP file transfer hidden in the mass of packets, it starts collecting the packets associated with the file being transferred and when it has received all of them, it saves the file to your disk (at a location chosen by you). You can filter the saving of files by IP address, port, file extension, and/or file size.
Mode 2 (Packet Analyzer)
While in this mode, PIAFCTM captures and analyzes network data packets. PIAFCTM allows you to view special information encoded in each packet such as the source and destination IP addresses, the source and destination ports, and many other pieces of information. When capturing using the NetworkActiv PIAFCTM Packet Driver, data is captured at the ethernet level allowing you to see the MAC (Media Access Control) addresses of each computer from which you have received packets. Many packets can be captured in a short period of time, and so you may not wish to view them all. With PIAFCTM, you can filter the capturing of packets by IP address, port, packet size, protocol, and/or text-sub-string searching of each packet's content. Also, you can search for a text-sub-string within the current list of packets, save the list of packets to a text file, view the data payload content of each packet (in Hex, Decimal, Text, or standard Hex+Text style), and more.
Mode 3 (Network Statistics Mode)
Statistical Mode monitors and analyzes the network traffic and forms statistical information pertaining to each IP address, each IP address pair, and each local port. This information is useful, especially for understanding the different IP addresses and data amounts involved with a given network utilizing task such as loading a web page. This mode may also assist the technician in finding problems with redundant network load configurations and systems.
Unlike many network monitors out there, this software does NOT require (nor does it use) WinPCap, nor any other third party extensions.
