Port scanning for valid outgoing ports?

Hello,

At home, I have a webcam serving video over port 8081 and have port forwarding configured on my D-Link router. This works well and I can view the video when sitting at an Internet cafe down the street. However, from work I can't view the video. After much trial and error, I discovered that I can view the webcam video if I switched the serving port to 8888.

My question is - why can I only view the video at work over port 8888 and not port 8081? Also, using Port Scanner, is there a quick way I can determine which ports I can view video over at work?

Well at work maybe a lot of ports are closed, however 8888 open. Or only port 8081 might be closed for some reason...

using the port scanner could reveal which outgoing ports are open, however then there must be a listening end, which has all ports open.

I don't know if there is some free service which has a computer wich all ports open, google it. Finding one that allready has would be better then you having to forwards all of thoes other ports to your comp, especily since it could create a security risk...

Thanks for the help. I googled and couldn't find a computer or service that has all ports open to test with. I guess I'll have to do the manual trial & error method.

You shouldnt need to check all of them, try these, some common service ports:

(ones with stars are really common)
